Website + Blog = Better SEO
Why having blog software installed on your site makes for better rankings.
What is as important as ranking highly on a search engine? Of course, it’s getting the visits to a site and turning those visits into enquiries. I have written many posts about the importance of content for SEO purposes, but there’s one thing that hasn’t been covered; ‘How can creating fresh and relevant content be made easier and still contribute to higher rankings?’
When content is created for a web page it is rarely touched again. The standard services or products that a company is involved in hardly changes and therefore the site text does not need to adapt. What does change however are promotions, advertisements, company size and seasonal trends and it for these reasons that content needs to be created and uploaded to be indexed and found by potential buyers.
For many years, websites and additional blog software have gone hand in hand providing a solution for many companies to create content at their own free will. However, as SEO has become more complex, different blogging software is used and uploaded onto a website to make it easier for both SEOs and business owners to manage.
WordPress, Cutenews and Mambo are just a few examples of popular blogging software options that people can have installed on their website. Many are easy to use and with minimum training, people can add their most recent news, articles, press releases and promotions with the addition of images to really make their blog a feature.
Unfortunately, certain websites that are developed using specific software, namely online shops, cannot support a blog due to the limitations. This doesn’t fundamentally affect the SEO, but extra distribution may need to occur from alternative blogs to generate the same amount of links and tags.
Yes, the advantage of blogging doesn’t stop at simply adding content. Key word rich links, tags and categories can be included into posts to refine the text making it more specific to searches within Google, Yahoo and Bing, and content added via blogging software is also indexed far quicker than choosing to add extra HTML pages.
Many people that have a blog installed on their website also have an RSS (Real Simple Syndication). This is ultimately a feed which people can subscribe to and then receive regular updates to keep them informed with information from that website. This is especially useful for those sites that regularly hold promotions or competitions that people may not want to miss out on.
Blog software doesn’t have to be linked with RSS, but it is natural for the two to go together. This is because of the vast opportunities in other areas of SEO. Social Media sites such as Twitter and Facebook can be synced with a websites RSS feed to update followers and friends whenever a new post is added. This provides a better online presence and can make the difference between two and two hundred views.
Content is still ‘King’ and SEO companies don’t always have the resource to constantly chase their customer for new promotions and up and coming news based upon seasonal trends. For those customers that want to take an active interest within their SEO campaign, adding content to their blog is perfect; you don’t have to be an expert in SEO, just know about your own company.
