The Key to a Good Keyword
We all know that starting a campaign and choosing keywords can be a tricky business. You don’t want to have too many that it overloads your site, but too little and the return on investment may not be big enough. So what do you need to do to find the right keywords in this ever changing market, well here’s a few tips;
- Use your services or products as potential keywords. This means when your page 1 position 1 for hair extensions you actually do sell hair extensions. Simple I know but people do make mistakes in this area.
- Does your ‘word’ have a high search volume? This part can be tricky as some phrases won’t have big search volume but are really relevant to your business and will bring you positive traffic. The keyword tool is always something worth having a quick look at as it can suggest options that you may not have considered.
- Does your competition use that phrase? Here’s a way of getting one over on the company that you really want to beat this year. Use a phrase that’s common in the market that they are not using. Seek advice from a SEO consultant, most can identify sites with implemented SEO on so you can see what they are using.
- Try before you buy. By this point you ideally will have a small collection of keywords that are relevant, you know they get a fair amount of search traffic from the right market, but you’re just not sure which ones to pick. Well enter Pay Per Click. This is an excellent way to test your keywords and to see the trends used in the market sector you’re in. It will show you which keywords really are bringing you a good amount of traffic without having to invest permanently.
I believe by using all of these techniques and investing some time and research in to your keywords that it can pay off when your campaign gets going.
