How to Find the Perfect Blog to Guest Post On
Now, we all know that ‘Content is King’, however when it comes to Guest Blogging as part of your SEO campaign, what are the important things to be looking out for when it comes to finding a suitable blog for your piece of creative magic to be hosted on? There are a number of features to bear in mind and in this particular post, I’m going to be touching on a few of them.
It’s All About Being Social
Social signals are vitally important, so you should ensure that the blog in question has a Twitter profile, Facebook page and Google + account at the very least. The next thing to look for is how active the blog is on these social accounts, so look into the number of followers, likes, +1’s and also how often the accounts are updated. If you get positive results on all of the above, you could be on to a winner. (Top tip: If the blog doesn’t have the greatest PageRank but is ‘on it’ when it comes to the social side of things, don’t rule it out as, like I’ve already touched on, social signals are a huge factor nowadays!)
Looking Good??
Design is essential; if you came across a blog that just didn’t look the part, would you stay and read what was on it? No, I didn’t think so. Make sure the blog is well designed, immediately catches the eye and most importantly reflects the industry for which the blog and its posts are supposed to be focused on.
What Are You Talking About?
The above question is certainly not what you want to be asking when you come across a blog. The most successful blogs immediately enable you to gain an understanding of what you are likely to find information about on them. Make sure you look over the content currently published on it and ensure it all reflects the same industry; the last thing a regular reader wants to come across is a post about make-up as they scroll through their favourite vehicle-based blog! If you have a Guest Blog that reflects the style and industry of the blog in question, the likelihood of the owner accepting and posting it will be significantly increased.
Who Is Reading It?
After taking the time to write a riveting and engaging Guest Blog, you will of course want people to read it! To give you an idea of the potential number of people who could read your post on the blog you are considering, have a look at the number of Feedburner subscribers it has. The best blogs with the most subscribers will actively publicise this, so it’s simply a case of the more subscribers, the merrier!
These are just four of the things you should be looking out for when searching for a home for your Guest Blog, but there are plenty more. For instance, make sure the blog itself is regularly updated, all content is written to the standard you would expect from a self produced post and that they are written for the user and not the search engines.
There are loads more, so why not leave a few suggestions in the comments section below to help other writers out?
