Content Marketing + Social Media + Us = The Tribe!
Confused? Yes so was I, but it really does make a lot of sense. The idea behind this analogy is that these three things all mashed up together are the perfect recipe for a successful content marketing campaign.
Sonia Simone from Copyblogger explains that we, the tribesmen (and ladies) write great content, and Facebook and Twitter are the campfires that pull the tribe together. Still confused? The idea is that for hundreds and thousands of years we have gathered around campfires whether it’s a tribe huddled around a campfire in the middle of the Amazon rainforest or a group of friends stood round a barbeque in their back garden in Leicester, we all stand there and share stories. It’s in our nature to play with language, to create stories and entertain each other.
Social Media didn’t create content marketing but it’s an essential tool for distributing it. Social media has grown massively over the years – but why? Because communication and connection is what drives us, the campfire; i.e. social media, gives us a place to share information, air our differences and share our views.
So how can we at Creare use social media to improve our SEO strategies?
Use Social Links to Improve Rankings:
The long standing key to SEO is to build inbound links, but with Google getting fussier by the day with what links it rewards, the quality of the links is becoming more and more important. Social media links are highly regarded as they point to the relevant content that people are reading and sharing. So we need to encourage these and we can do this by making sharing simple – with the use of sharing icons. The more people that share the content that’s on the site, the better your search engine rankings will be and you’ll also receive more organic traffic – it’s win win all round.
Write Content That People Will Want to Share
This sounds like a no brainer, but how can you be positive that your content is share worthy? The content needs to be engaging, news worthy and highly relevant to your target audience. You need to build up the content on your website to the point where it becomes a valuable resource, it can create controversy and help solve problems – all things people will want to share.
Keep Your Website Fresh
We all know fresh content on a website is essential and this is where social media jumps to the rescue again. Installing social media plug-ins to your website will help to keep your website fresh. Although these plug-ins won’t help your rankings, something like a rolling Twitter feed, showing all your latest tweets, will provide your visitors with fresh content.
Remember….
Campfire analogies aside, content is king but it needs its trusty sidekick social media in order to be a complete success.
Us + Content Marketing + Social Media = a winning combination and a strong content campaign for our clients.
