Top Google Search Operators for SEO – Video Tutorial
In this week’s SEO Video Blog, we thought we’d take a look at Advanced Search Operators in Google and how they can used to better plan out an SEO Campaign.
Advanced Search Operators are basically commands or filters if you like that can be applied to a Google Search Query to return a specific type of data. This data can be then used to help research an SEO Campaign, such as finding potential backlinks, determining how competitive a keyword is and even right down how your site appears within Google.
In the SEO Video Tutorial, I take you through some of our most widely-used Advanced Search Operators that we find come in handy when planning a Client’s SEO Campaign.
Google Search Operators
- allinanchor: query – Search Results that display the volume of webpages within Google’s Index that contain a link with the specified anchor pointing to another website. Useful for judging how competitive a keyword is, or how you stack up in terms of links for a certain keyword
- site:http://www.domain.co.uk – Displays all of the pages within a Website URL that Google’s Search Robot has indexed. Let’s you find out the commonly asked question: “Has Google Indexed my Website?”
- related:http://www.domain.co.uk – Find other Domains that Google see’s as ‘related’ to one you’ve entered. Let’s you find competing websites in a similar industry, or lets you research a Companies total ‘web presence’.
- intitle:”query” + links – Finds all the pages in Google’s database that contain your query followed by the word “links” in it’s page title. Helpful for finding industry-specific links pages that you could then use to apply for a backlink.
