Link Variation Guidelines – SEO Video
Welcome to this weeks SEO video blog, with all the recent hype about the de-indexing of blog networks and sites being hit by Google’s latest algorithm update, we’re going to review anchor text variation.
We all know that back link variation is important, but with Google constantly battling over SEO’d sites we all have to ensure our back link profiles are as natural and as ethical as possible.
Firstly lets recap on the type of links you should be building:
- High quality relevant blogs (see last weeks video for blog guidelines)
- Area or industry specific directories
- Social signals via social interaction
- Contextual links in Press Releases, Guest blogs or mentions in industry related blogs.
So.. by now we should all know where we should be building links from and what a decent link looks like.
Next lets review the type on anchor text variation we should be targeting. We have recently done an internal survey within our SEO department and we produced these target percentages.
- Branded links – 20%
- Exact Match – 45%
- Synonyms – 30%
- Other – 5%
So it is clear the team feels it is important to get a good balance of link types and anchor text variation to ensure the future success our clients SEO campaigns.
We would love to hear your opinion on this topic, so we have set up a simple survey on survey monkey to capture your options.
