How To Set Up Google Authorship! – SEO Video
Welcome to this weeks SEO video blog, last week we discussed Google integrating it’s local places pages into Google +. Continuing with the Google plus theme we going to show you how to set you Google Authorship for you blog.
There are several advantages of setting up authorship for your blog, it helps build authority to individual contributors of your blog and aggregates a picture of the author into the SERP’s to help improve CTR.
Once it is working successfully, it should look something like this:
This is what it should look like once it is working correctly:
Set 1 – Google Plus Profile
Getting started is simple, set up a Google Plus profile, make sure you add lots of information about yourself, your interests and any resources you use.. The first step is to make a public link under the ‘contributor too’ list in the ‘about us’ section of the profile. This should link to the root layer of your blog or website.
Step 2 – Link to an author profile page from your blog posts.
The second element is to set up author pages on your blog and make sure your individual posts link to the author pages with a rel=’author’ attribute.
Step 3 – Link from your Author Page to Google Plus
Finally to complete the triangle you need to link back from your author page on your blog to your Google Plus Profile with the rel=’me’ attribute.
Step 4 – Test with the Rich Snippets Tool
Thats it! you can test that the authorship is going to work correctly by testing on the Google rich snippet testing tool, linked from the supporting blog post. Simply add your chosen blog post URL.
