Google Plus Improves Organic Positions Right? – SEO Video

Hi and welcome to this weeks video blog, with Google plus being around for nearly a year we thought we would review the implications of Google plus on organic search positions.

Google Plus currently has over 170 million users worldwide with speculation that it will reach nearly 400 million by the end of 2012, with all these participants it has become a must have for business and webmasters throughout the UK.

So what does Google plus offer that other social platforms don’t? Well like facebook and twitter you can add updates, videos, photos and many other forms of multimedia, you can also see trending topics, talk to friends and get involved with communities with circles and hangouts.

But, Google has one clear advantage, it dominates the world of search engines. This means to has access to personal information about businesses and website owners which it can apply to the organic rankings, without having to rely on third party sites like facebook and twitter.

So Google will more than likely give more authority to webmasters and businesses owners that have an active presence on their own social platform, as they will have a better understanding of that profile.

Right, onto the SEO stuff… how can we get Google plus to help our organic rankings? Well their are two clear drivers; being proactive with your account and interacting with your community.

Your goal should be to achieve the following:

• An active and authoritative business profile, this can be done through people in your community, in Creare’s case SEO’s plus one’ing your business page. Make sure your active and add relevant fresh content, videos and photos which will engage your audience.

• Get plus 1′s to your websites landing pages, make sure your site have the plus 1 button and that it’s easily accessible for your content to be promoted in other peoples profile. We have also heard that Google possibly stores the search query that lead to a plus one and then benefits that particular keyword ranking.

• Finally the Google Authorship, we have had Authority set up on the Creare websites since the functionally was released, not only will it help CTR in the SERPS, it will also build authority for the authors that post to your blog and guess what? the more active your individual users are in Google plus the more authority your author will get the community and the better their content will rank.

We discussed Google plus, twitter and facebook a couple of weeks ago after we looked at a case study complied by panaroma on different ranking factors, which we have linked from the supporting blog post.
