Set up a Google Plus Business Page – SEO Video

Over the past few weeks we have looked at how to set up Google Authorship, Google Local Pages and the affect of Google Plus One’s on your SEO campaign. This week, we’re doing a bit of a prequel! How to set up a simple Google Plus Business Page.

Based on previous video blogs where we talked about plus one’s on a Google Plus business page having a positive effect on your search engine positions, setting up a business profile is pretty essential for SEO these days.

Firstly set up and Google plus profile by going too: plus . google .com and click ‘create a new account’

Fill in all the info, Name, username, password, email, DOB and all the other information required. If you already have a google account, simply log in and go to plus . google .com and it will prompt directly to the next step, asking you to start building your network with people you may know to add to your circles. Next fill out your personal bio.

Once you have a personal profile set up it should look something like this.

So you have your Google Plus account, now go to google . com /+/ business/ and click ‘create your Google plus page’. You will see you get the following options:

  • Local Business or Place
  • Product or Brand
  • Company, Institution or Organisation
  • Arts, Entertainment or Sports
  • Other
In this example we selected ‘Product or Brand’, fill in the page name, website address (URL), select a category from the drop down and your desired public visibility, we or course for SEO purposed would suggest making the page 100% public.
Set up your business profile basics by adding a tag line and profile photo, you are then asked to share the page within your circles. Click ‘finish’ to complete the set up.
Lastly we recommend you add the following information to the ‘about’ tab, fill in your businesses contact information, add a full introduction to the business and add links to your business group websites or relevant URL’s or landing pages.
That’s it your ready to promote your business on Google plus, in the coming weeks we’ll go into more information about how to improve the exposure of your newly created business page. Thanks for watching.
