Now That’s What I Call Funny PPC Ads

This week’s blog post was really a bit of research by myself to discover how much fun PPC marketers out there are having with their ad copy. I often think there are too many serious ads out there and wonder if CTR rate would be improved for some products/services if a bit of humour was included in the ads. I appreciate this sounds a bit geeky, but the size of a PPC ad does lend itself to an amusing ditty rather well.

When I’m talking about humour it doesn’t have to be an all out joke in the ad, it can simply be a play on words, a keyword insertion that gone wrong or just so random it makes you chuckle.  So please find below a small collection of ads I’ve stumbled across on my rounds that I liked. Please add any funny ads you’ve seen so hopefully over time this becomes a bit of a resource for PPC ad copy bloopers.

#1 – Keyword Insertion Mistake

First up is a keyword insertion mistake for dog food:

Why would you want to feed dog food to your parrot?

#2 – Play On Words

Following on from the Dog theme is a simple play on words but still a little amusing:

#3 – Wrong Language!

These kind of language mistakes happen all the time. I think its funny because someone has let this slip through the net. This advert was on google.co.uk.

#4 – Topical Humour

Last week I typed in Richard Keys and this advert appeared for the new show on Channel 4 – I’d put money on this being penned by Jimmy Carr!

#5 – Football Banter

Being an Utd fan I couldn’t agree more with this ad. To add insult to injury though Millwall had just beaten Leeds 2-0 when this ad went live.

#6 – Keyword Insertion Gone Very Wrong

And finally, what a bargain (I’m guessing they’d be half price!):

Please feel free to comment on this post and add any examples you may have found. I hope no company or individual has been offended by any of the ads shown in this post..its just a bit a fun.
