Good news for PLA’s!!!!
RKG discovered this week an expansion arrow below the usual display of five PLAs. This can be seen below:
As Nick Bremenstul (the founder of this information) clicked on this arrow, this is what he discovered:
The usual 5 PLAs expands to 16, which pushes organic listings further down the page. This would have been one of Google’s testers as it hasn’t been seen since and there are no publishing’s from Google themselves introducing this! As a PPC consultant with PLA’s falling under our banner let’s hope that they will introduce things like this for PLA’s in the near future as this would be great news for our Ecommerce clients. However, the introduction of such features would be a further blow for organic listings and would support some people’s concern that Google is slowly taking over all the SERPs with paid lisitings.
Google must be happy with the results from PLAs since Google Shopping was switched over to a paid model, which is perhaps why they are trialling new PLA formats. The sheer volume of searches that now feature PLA’s would have had an impact on Google’s second quarterly earnings this year! Google has made $14.11 billion in revenue in quarter two of 2013 with profits of $9.7 billion and 25% of Google’s profits came from advertising!
